By purchasing from me you are contributing to my local food bank in Sequim (pronounced Skwim) Washington. I give a portion of my proceeds to them each quarter. Plumb Crazy Vintage is run by treasure hunter Joan Plumb, finding vintage, antique, and delightfully unique pieces with personality. I collect because I love the thrill of the hunt—and giving special finds a second life in a new home. If it makes me smile, it made the cut. I usually ship the 1st business day after purchase.
Pair of vintage solid brass folding bookends in the shape of an Asian pagoda temple gate. These are the classic mid-century Korean imports that were sold in gift shops as “Around the World” souvenirs in the 1960s-70s.
They fold flat for storage — lift the pagoda up, and the base swings out to slide under your books. The detail is great: brickwork base, arched gateway, double-tiered upturned roof with floral crest. Heavy solid brass, not plated tin.
Condition: very good vintage. Light surface patina and a few tiny flecks consistent with age, but no dents, no wobble, hinges work perfectly. Cork pads on bottom are original and intact (see last photo). Polished bright gold tone — I left them unlacquered so you can keep the shine or let them darken naturally.
Perfect for bookshelf, desk, holding cookbooks, or as Chinoiserie / Hollywood Regency accents. They also make great business card holders or small display stands when folded.
Sold as a matching pair only.
