Vintage PAIR of Colonial Courting Couple Porcelain Urn Boudoir Lamps - 18th Century Scene

Lovely matching pair of small vanity / boudoir lamps in the classic urn shape with double gold scroll handles. Each has an oval cartouche with a romantic 18th-century courting scene - gentleman in red coat with yellow breeches bowing to lady in blue dress with yellow fan in a garden. These are often sold as "George and Martha Washington" lamps, but it is a generic Colonial Revival / Fragonard-style courting couple design.

You are getting BOTH lamps shown in Photo 1 - pair only, no bulbs, no shades.

Condition - PLEASE READ - Gold Wear As Noted:

This pair shows quite a bit of gold gilt wear as you mentioned and as seen in close-ups. Porcelain bodies themselves are good - no cracks or chips to the urn, just light surface dirt.

Gold loss includes:

• Heavy wear / rubbing off on base rings and footed pedestal (photos 3 & 4)

• Wear and some white spots on scroll handles where gold has chipped/worn (photos 5 & 6)

• Wear around the gold filigree frame around the courting scene

• Tarnish / patina on sockets

Great project pair for shabby chic, cottage, or to use as-is for that authentic vintage patina. The courting scenes themselves are bright and intact.

Working:

Both tested - turn-knob switches turn. Sockets are newer replacement Sun-Lite brass sockets. Cords are intact, no fraying. I recommend a low-watt LED or 25w bulb.
