Antique Haviland Limoges Meadow Visitors Porcelain Nut Basket – Circa 1880s

A beautiful piece of Victorian French porcelain featuring delicate birds, colorful butterflies, and dainty wildflowers! This antique Haviland & Co. Limoges handled basket features an intricate braided porcelain handle accented with gold detailing.

Believed to be the collectible Meadow Visitors pattern on an Osier-style blank, this charming piece showcases the nature-inspired decoration so popular during the late Victorian era.

The gracefully curved porcelain body forms one continuous serving dish, with the decorative braided handle arching across its center.

A Special Piece of Cincinnati History

The underside bears two important markings:

• H&Co / L – Haviland & Co., Limoges, France

• HAVILAND & Co. POUR TICE & HUNTINGTON CINCINNATI

The second mark indicates that this porcelain was produced for Tice & Huntington, a Cincinnati retailer. This special retailer backstamp adds an interesting historical connection to an already lovely antique.

Beautiful antique condition overall, especially considering its age of approximately 140 years.

There is one chip along the underside foot rim where the dish rests on a surface. This does not detract from the decorative appearance when displayed upright. No other chips or cracks have been observed.
