Milk glass is an opaque or semi-opaque white glass that has been produced since the mid-19th century. It was often used as a less expensive substitute for porcelain and was popular for decorative items, tableware, and functional pieces. Many American glass companies, including Fenton, Duncan & Miller, and LE Smith, produced extensive lines of milk glass in various patterns and forms.
The "Daisy and Button" pattern is one of the most recognizable and widely produced pressed glass patterns, originating in the late 19th century. It features a combination of raised daisy and button motifs, often within a diamond-shaped grid. This pattern was applied to a vast array of items, from pitchers and bowls to toothpick holders and salt cellars, making it a staple of Victorian and early 20th-century American glass production.
