Vintage Art Deco Yeoman of England Silver Plated Tea Strainer with Original Drip Bowl
Lovely 1930s English tea strainer set for the collector or daily tea lover. The strainer has a classic round pierced bowl with two flat geometric handles in a stepped fan / chevron design - pure Art Deco. It sits perfectly on its matching round pedestal drip bowl to catch drips at the tea table.
This is the original 2-piece set, not a marriage.
Details:
• Maker: Yeoman of England, Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire (est. 1897)
• Pattern: Art Deco geometric - stepped fan handles with incised V-detail
• Construction: Silver plated, pierced bowl with fine holes, openwork long handle for resting on cup
• Drip bowl: Round, slightly footed, with soft patina inside
Hallmarks:
Clearly stamped on the bowl base: YEOMAN OF ENGLAND with the Yeoman / Beefeater mark in an arched cartouche. [Photo 1]
Measurements (approximate, please see photos for scale):
• Strainer overall length: ~ 5.75 - 6 inches
• Strainer bowl diameter: ~ 2.5 inches
• Drip bowl diameter: 2.75 inches x 1.5 inches high
• Combined height when nested: ~ 2.25 inches
Condition:
Good vintage condition with normal age wear. Light surface tarnish and patina, some darker age spots on drip bowl exterior and on handles as photographed. No dents, no cracks, no broken piercings. Bowl sits level. All holes are clear. Unpolished - I leave polishing to the new owner, it will shine up beautifully if you prefer bright silver. Fresh from estate.
