Vintage Japanese Kutani Style Lidded Ginger Jar / Tea Caddy - Wan Shou Wu Jiang Longevity Pattern
Lovely small covered jar in vibrant coral-orange with heavy gold gilt. Perfect for loose tea, sugar, or display.
Details:
• Hand-painted gold scrollwork over orange ground
• 4 white roundels with gold characters "Wan Shou Wu Jiang" meaning "Boundless Longevity / May you enjoy infinite longevity" - traditional birthday blessing
• Also 4 characters on lid
• Classic Greek key fret border in gold and white around rim and lid
• Two small gold loop handles
• Domed lid with mushroom finial, gold flower detail
• White interior, clean
• Bottom with orange circular seal mark
Condition: Vintage good. No chips or cracks. Some light wear / fading to the gold gilt on the Greek key bands and handles and scrolls - see close-up photos - consistent with age and use. Displays beautifully.
Measures approx 5.5" tall to top of finial, 4" wide body, 3.5" opening. About 3" deep inside.
Great Chinoiserie decor, tea ceremony, altar display, or to add to a longevity collection.
