Plumb Crazy Vintage is run by me, Joan Plumb. I've always loved the thrill of the hunt — the estate sale early mornings, the tucked-away antique malls, the joy of spotting something special that deserves a second life. I collect vintage, antique, and delightfully unique pieces that have character and make me smile. Every piece in the shop is chosen by hand and ready for a new home. I pack with care and ship the first business day after purchase. Your purchase helps fund my local food bank.
Vintage German Salt-Glazed Stoneware Schnapps / Apple Liqueur Bottle - Swing Top
Charming vintage German pottery bottle for apple schnapps! Perfect for bar cart decor, kitchen display, or to use as a vase.
Features:
• Traditional Westerwald salt-glazed stoneware - grey with cobalt blue glaze on neck and foot
• Incised and hand-painted apple & leaf design - yellow apples, blue plum, green leaves
• Text reads: "Röthenburger Schnäpsle" (Röthenburg apple schnapps)
• Original white ceramic stopper with metal wire bail and red rubber gasket - still works!
• Opens - shows inside - great to reuse for homemade liqueur
• Bottom marked: "Made in Germany" + cursive signature - likely Reinhold Merkelbach
• Approx. 8.5" H x 3.5" W base - holds about 500ml
Condition: Very good vintage condition. No cracks. Tiny chip/flake on the ceramic stopper top (see close-up photo) and some light crazing to glaze, consistent with age. Inside clean. Wire bail has light patina. See all photos for condition - what you see is what you get.
Great piece of German folk art pottery - these are getting harder to find with the original stopper!
