Milk glass experienced a massive resurgence in popularity throughout mid-century America, with numerous established glassware manufacturers producing decorative tableware items for everyday homes. The Westmoreland Glass Company, operating out of Grapeville, Pennsylvania, was among the most prolific producers of these opaque white decorative pieces. Their extensive catalogs featured numerous mold-pressed patterns inspired by natural motifs, which became staples of traditional home decor.
The Paneled Grape pattern combined geometric facets with relief-molded clusters of fruit and foliage, offering a classic Victorian revival aesthetic that appealed to homemakers of the 1950s and 1960s. These covered dishes were marketed as versatile container pieces suitable for candies, nuts, or vanity storage on dressing tables. Today, they survive in considerable numbers as cherished examples of mid-century mass-produced pressed glassware.
