Hi Everyone! I am Amy, one of the Moderators here at Secondhandsquad.net. Part of that role is to assist with any questions you may have, so fire away! I am from Columbus, Ohio and love thrifting and perusing our local antique stores! I enjoy pieces that remind me of my grandparents and love the hunt of finding unique treasures to bring into my home. While I love the reselling business, I find my joy in giving new life to old pieces and sharing that with others.
Milk glass experienced a tremendous revival in mid-20th-century America, with several prominent glassmakers producing decorative tableware and vanity accessories. Westmoreland Glass Company, operating out of Grapeville, Pennsylvania, became particularly famous for its opaque white glass items featuring traditional Victorian-inspired motifs. The company utilized detailed metal molds to press intricate dimensional patterns like grapes, leaves, and paneling into the molten glass.
Vanity sets consisting of perfume bottles, powder jars, and trinket trays were extremely popular dressing table accessories from the 1940s through the 1960s. The Paneled Grape pattern, also known as Paneled Harvest, combined classic hobnail and grape elements that appealed to collectors of traditional home decor. These distinctive pieces were frequently marked with the embossed 'WG' overlapping logo on the base, solidifying their heritage among American glassware enthusiasts.
