Vintage Japanese Wooden Kokeshi Doll - Black Bob - Floral Kimono - 5.5" - Unsigned
Adorable vintage kokeshi doll! This girl has the classic sleepy eyes with long lashes, a glossy black bob haircut with a little topknot, and a colorful kimono.
Her kimono is black with big red camellia flowers, yellow mums, and a pink polka-dot obi with a brown patterned collar. She is perfect for a shelf, tiered tray, or desk.
• All wood, hand-turned and hand-painted
• Approx. 5.5 inches tall to top of head, about 6" to top of bun - please see ruler photo
• Unsigned - No signature on bottom - bottom shows natural wood, lathe dimple, and some black paint wear on edge as shown
• Good vintage condition - colors still bright, light surface wear and a little crazing on the pink obi that is normal with age. No cracks or chips in wood.
This is a Sosaku / Creative Kokeshi - made by small workshops for the souvenir / folk art market in Japan, not the traditional regional types.
