VINTAGE CONVEX DOMED GLASS SILHOUETTE - COLONIAL COURTING SCENE - SIGNED
Charming vintage round silhouette under convex domed glass in ebonized wood frame with gold inner liner.
Scene depicts a Colonial couple in a parlor: gentleman in ruffled coat by fireplace with spinning wheel, lady in ruffled hoop skirt seated with parrot on perch. Kitten playing with yarn ball at bottom. Signed "Schma" in the design.
Details:
• Circa 1930s-1940s Colonial Revival era
• Frame diameter: ∼7" overall - see ruler photo
• Domed convex bubble glass - excellent condition, no cracks
• Black wood frame with gilt inner rim
• Paper backing shows age wear and tears, but piece is stable
• Original brass hanging loop at top
• Ready to hang or display on easel
Condition:
Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. The silhouette has some paint loss/flaking especially on the woman's dress, flowers, and kitten area — see close-up photos. Adds character but priced accordingly. Frame has minor scuffs. Glass is bright and clear. Backing paper is torn/cracking but intact.
This style of reverse-painted convex silhouette was popular wall decor in the early-mid 1900s. Makes a wonderful addition to Victorian, farmhouse, colonial, or cottage decor.
