Manufacturers like Jeannette Glass produced these square pedestal dishes in large quantities to meet the demand for affordable, decorative tableware. The distinctive thumbprint and panel motif reflected traditional designs while utilizing modern automated pressing machinery.
Over the decades, these versatile compotes transitioned from functional dining accessories to collectible examples of mid-century glassware. Because many sets were used daily or separated from their lids over time, complete examples command a higher premium than individual bases. Today, they remain cherished examples of Depression-era and post-war American glass production.
