beautiful heavy crystal vase from the famed Strömbergshyttan glassworks in Småland, Sweden. This is the classic post-war design attributed to Asta Strömberg — thick-walled, octagonal form with a single acid-etched butterfly and foliage sprig.
Details:
• Maker: Strömbergshyttan, Sweden
• Date: hand-etched “34 1950” on upper rim (see photo)
• Design: octagonal tapering vase with beveled corners
• Decoration: frosted acid-etched butterfly with leafy stem on one face
• Glass: clear heavy crystal, approx. ½” thick walls, substantial weight
• Size: approx. 4.5” tall x 3.5” wide x 3.5” deep (please see photos for scale – I can measure exactly on request)
• Condition: GOOD VINTAGE USED – displays beautifully. Please note: two small fleabite chips to the upper rim edge, approx. 2mm each (photographed close-up in images 3-4). No cracks, no repairs, no clouding, no dishwasher damage. Light base wear consistent with age.
This is the same form and etch as the documented Strömbergshyttan butterfly vases from the 1950s — a lovely example of Scandinavian Modern glass, perfect as a bud vase, vanity catchall, or shelf styling piece.
