Hi! I’m Sandra from South Pasadena in SoCal, where I love exploring thrift stores and estate sales. More than anything, I love having friends and family over and bringing people together in my home. I use many of my finds to decorate and make my home feel beautiful and inviting; and they usually make great conversation pieces, too. I love chinoiserie, Lenox, Fostoria's Cubist pieces, silverplate, brass, and, really, just beautiful old things. I keep pieces I love most and rehome the rest. ☀️
Maker: Pearl China Company (East Liverpool, Ohio, USA)
Era: Circa 1940s – 1950s
Pattern/Technique: Hand-Decorated 22 Karat "Weeping Gold" / Etched Floral
A stunning piece of mid-century American ceramic history. This elegant creamer and matching double-handled sugar bowl set was produced by the renowned Pearl China Company in East Liverpool, Ohio, during the 1940s to 1950s. Pearl China was celebrated for its high-quality vitrified porcelain bodies overlaid with heavy, genuine gold treatments.
This set showcases their iconic hand-applied "Weeping Gold" technique, where molten 22-karat gold was glaze-fired to create a rich, textured, shimmering surface. The design features a dramatic, flowing Aladdin-style silhouette with ornate, sweeping lines that capture the essence of Hollywood Regency glamor. Both pieces are further enhanced with hand-decorated, finely etched floral and scroll detailing that reflects the light beautifully.
This set is in very good vintage display condition, retaining a bright, high-shine luster with minimal gilt rub or wear.
Condition Callout: For full transparency, there is a single "flea bite" surface nick right on the edge of the sugar bowl rim, which is highlighted with a pen in the last close-up photo.
