Plumb Crazy Vintage is run by me, Joan Plumb. I've always loved the thrill of the hunt — the estate sale early mornings, the tucked-away antique malls, the joy of spotting something special that deserves a second life. I collect vintage, antique, and delightfully unique pieces that have character and make me smile. Every piece in the shop is chosen by hand and ready for a new home. I pack with care and ship the first business day after purchase. Your purchase helps fund my local food bank.
Pair of 2 Vintage Hand Carved Egyptian Bastet Cat Statues - Black Stone
From my Egypt trip - cute matched pair of Bastet cats, Egyptian goddess of cats, home and protection. Hand carved from black soapstone / basalt in folk-art primitive style at a local market.
Each cat is seated on integral base, with pointed ears, simple incised lines for eyes and collar. Because they are hand-carved, they are similar but not identical - see photos showing slight differences in face, ears and base - that's the charm of hand-carved pieces!
Measurements: Each approx 2" tall (just under 2") x 1" long. Solid stone, heavy for size.
Condition: Vintage pre-owned from personal collection. No chips, cracks or repairs. Light surface wear - primitive carved texture is intentional. See all 5 photos for exact condition - this is the exact pair you will receive. Please note in photo 1, the left cat has a tiny flake on ear tip from carving - original.
Lovely little pair for altar, bookshelf, desk, curio cabinet, cat lover gift, or to go with your other Egyptian pieces. Don't often find them as a pair.
