VINTAGE AFRICAN BRASS & GLASS BEAD NECKLACE - Baule Sun Disc Pendant - Tribal
Authentic African style statement necklace featuring large hand-made brass discs.
DETAILS:
• Central Pendant: Large quatrefoil cluster - approx. 2.5" wide x 2.5" tall x 1/4" thick - made of 8 overlapping hand-coiled brass sun discs in spiral pattern - heavy solid brass - old goldweight style
• Side Accents: 2 matching round brass sun discs - approx. 1.25" diameter - with wire wrap center - one on each side
• Beads: Double strand - black glass - mix of round seed beads, flat saucer discs, and large oval barrel beads (approx. 16mm) - with 4 amber / honey brown striped glass lampwork beads (Krobo / Murano style) - and small brass spacer beads near pendant
• Construction: Strung on strong cord / wire - pullover style - no clasp - screw-type barrel bead at top of one side for closure
• Brass has natural patina and antiquing - not polished shiny - shows age

CONDITION:
Excellent vintage pre-owned. No missing beads, string is strong, brass shows natural darkening / patina from age which is desired for tribal jewelry. Black glass beads have light surface wear from storage. One amber bead has tiny surface chip - see close-up.
This is the real African trade / Baule brass style - heavy coiled wire sun discs described as "Goldweight" - Akan peoples. Collected in 20th century. Beautiful tribal statement piece for layering, Afrocentric collection, or boho wear.
