Hi Everyone! I am from Ohio and love thrifting and perusing our local antique stores! I enjoy pieces that remind me of my grandparents and love the hunt of finding unique treasures to bring into my home.
Fenton Art Glass Company was an American glass manufacturer founded in 1905. Known for its colorful and decorative glassware, Fenton produced a wide array of items, including vases, bowls, figurines, and novelty pieces. The company often employed various glassmaking techniques and patterns, such as "Daisy and Button" and "Colonial," which became popular during the early to mid-20th century. Their "Uranium Glass," also known as Vaseline glass, is characterized by its greenish hue and its ability to fluoresce under ultraviolet light, a result of adding uranium to the glass mixture. This particular item, a toothpick holder shaped like a top hat, is a classic example of Fenton's novelty glass. The "Colonial" pattern, featuring pressed glass designs like diamonds and stars, was a staple in their production. These small decorative items were popular collectibles and often used as functional pieces for holding toothpicks or matches. The amber color is also a common and sought-after hue for Fenton glass.
