Hi Everyone! I am Amy, one of the Moderators at Secondhandsquad.net. Part of that role is to assist with any questions you may have, so fire away! I am from Columbus, Ohio and love thrifting and perusing our local antique stores! I enjoy pieces that remind me of my grandparents and love the hunt of finding unique treasures to bring into my home. While I love the reselling business, I find my joy in giving new life to old pieces and sharing that with others.
The Imperial Glass Company operated in Bellaire, Ohio, and became one of the major producers of American pressed glassware during the twentieth century. They created tablewares designed to imitate expensive hand-cut crystal by using intricate mold designs and polished details. Their Nucut line was introduced to offer households brilliant, heavy glass that captured light similarly to cut crystal but at a much lower cost.
Families used these small handled dishes on dining tables to serve relishes, pickles, or olives during everyday meals and formal gatherings alike. As dining habits shifted toward casual entertaining and matching multi-piece table settings declined in popularity, the production of specialized relish dishes gradually ceased. Today, these vintage pressed pieces survive mainly as decorative tableware or small catch-all trays in domestic settings.
