An antique porcelain trinket box produced by Porzellanfabrik Victoria Schmidt & Co. of Karlsbad, Bohemia, featuring the highly collectible green crown “Victoria Austria” mark alongside the “Victoria Ware” designation. The factory was originally established in 1883 by Lazarus & Rosenfeld Ltd. in Karlsbad, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (now Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic), before being acquired by Franz Schmidt in 1885. The specific crown mark used on this piece dates production between 1904 and 1918, placing it firmly at the turn of the 20th century. After the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918, the “Austria” designation was dropped in favor of “Czechoslovakia,” making this an unmistakably pre-World War I example. The additional “Victoria Ware” stamp identified a specialized line of decorative porcelain and boutique export wares distributed throughout Europe and North America. This elegant raised porcelain casket stands on four delicate cabriole-style legs and features softly scalloped edges, intricate gilt garland decoration, and a romantic pastoral courting scene framed in raised gold beading. The creamy ivory porcelain and shimmering gold detailing give the piece a refined Edwardian and Rococo revival aesthetic. A charming and increasingly collectible example of pre-1918 Austrian porcelain artistry with strong decorative appeal and excellent historical provenance. ~4”x3.5”x2.75”
