Gorgeous mid-century Japanese Royal Satsuma jardiniere / cache pot / planter. Heavily hand painted with raised moriage enamel dot work, heavy gold gilt, cobalt beaded ground, and a classic geisha garden scene.

Perfect for a small plant, brushes, or as a display piece.

_ Origin: Japan, Satsuma ware - export period, 1920s-1940s

_ Style: Moriage - raised slip dot enamel, gold gilt, hand painted

_ Form: Footed cachepot / jardiniere / flower pot with two scrolled gold handles

_ Scene: Three geishas in kimono with Mt. Fuji / bamboo landscape + all-over floral brocade

_ Glaze: Cream crackle glaze body, pale celadon interior

_ Mark: Bottom marked with blue 13 and red triangle with 12/72 inside - typical factory/pattern mark

Measurements:

• Height: approx. 4.75" - 5" tall

• Diameter: approx. 5" across top rim

Condition:

Excellent vintage condition. No chips, no cracks, no repairs. Light gold wear to rim and handles consistent with age and use. Interior has some kiln pops / glaze bubbles as made. Beautiful crazing throughout. Please see all photos - they are part of the description.

Why you'll love it:

This is the good heavy earthenware with thick raised moriage - not the thin modern repro. The colors are still vibrant and the gold is bright.
