Hi Everyone! I am Amy, one of the Moderators here at Secondhandsquad.net. Part of that role is to assist with any questions you may have, so fire away! I am from Columbus, Ohio and love thrifting and perusing our local antique stores! I enjoy pieces that remind me of my grandparents and love the hunt of finding unique treasures to bring into my home. While I love the reselling business, I find my joy in giving new life to old pieces and sharing that with others.
The Westmoreland Glass Company made pressed and blown glassware items in Grapeville, Pennsylvania, beginning in the late nineteenth century. They produced popular decorative homeware and tableware lines designed to imitate much older or more costly glass styles for everyday American households. Workers pressed molten glass into heavy metal molds to create these textured patterns and opaque white finishes.
Families used these decorative lidded dishes as candy containers, nut bowls, or trinket holders on bedroom dressers and living room tables. They served as affordable household ornaments and thoughtful gifts throughout the middle decades of the twentieth century. Changing home decor styles eventually reduced their popularity and brought large-scale production to a close.
