Hi Everyone! I am Amy, one of the Moderators here at Secondhandsquad.net. Part of that role is to assist with any questions you may have, so fire away! I am from Columbus, Ohio and love thrifting and perusing our local antique stores! I enjoy pieces that remind me of my grandparents and love the hunt of finding unique treasures to bring into my home. While I love the reselling business, I find my joy in giving new life to old pieces and sharing that with others.
The Westmoreland Glass Company made decorative glassware in Grapeville, Pennsylvania, beginning in the late nineteenth century. They produced pressed milk glass tableware and decorative items designed for dining and display. Their pieces were created by pressing molten glass into metal molds that featured intricate relief details like fruit clusters and leaves.
Homemakers used these pedestal cake stands to serve desserts at family gatherings and celebrations. They were placed on dining tables and buffets during holidays and Sunday dinners. Over time, changing dining habits reduced the need for specialized pastry servers, and production eventually ceased when the company closed.
