Set of 4 Vintage Mitterteich Bavaria Germany Crescent Bone Dishes - Floral
Pretty set of 4 crescent / half-moon bone dishes from Bavaria, Germany - perfect shabby cottage set!
You get 2 patterns that coordinate beautifully:
• 2 x Pink Cosmos - large soft pink cosmos with mauve buds and green leaves - scalloped gold rim
• 2 x Yellow Daisies / Black-Eyed Susan - cheerful yellow daisy bouquet with brown centers
All 4 have:
• White porcelain with delicate floral transfer - hand-painted look
• Scalloped edge with bright gold gilt trim all around
• Crescent moon shape - designed to sit alongside a dinner plate
Originally made as "bone dishes" for discarded bones at formal dinners, now everyone uses them as salad / side dishes, dessert plates, trinket / ring trays, or for holding lemon slices, olives, nuts.
Maker's Mark:
Backstamp shows the Mitterteich Bavaria crown with M and laurel wreath, marked "Mitterteich Bavaria / Germany / 032 / 4256" and "098" in gold. Circa 1950s-1970s.
