West German Pottery Pitcher - Blue & Light Gray / Ivory Salt Glaze - WATERTIGHT
Cute small Westerwald style stoneware wine / water jug pitcher!
• Marked WEST GERMANY on bottom - impressed mark - see close-up photo
• Handmade salt glaze stoneware - classic speckled / orange-peel salt glaze texture - gray / light ivory background with cobalt blue decoration
• Cobalt blue stylized floral / feather / leaf pattern down front with wavy stripe borders - blue band at top and base
• Bulbous shape with pinched spout and sturdy C-handle - light gray interior salt glaze
• 5.5" tall - small creamer / bud vase / desk size - 1/2 liter size
Glaze Imperfection - Please Read:
Has a factory glaze skip / kiln kiss / crawling at the top rim near the handle attachment - you can see it as a rough, lighter unglazed spot where the blue didn't flow - about 1/4" x 1/2" at the rim edge and a tiny one on the handle top. Still watertight - I tested with water, holds water fine with no leaking or seepage. This is a common kiln imperfection for Westerwald salt glaze and not a chip or crack after firing. No chips, cracks, or repairs otherwise.
