Vintage Japanese Porcelain Lidded Tea Cup with Built-In Strainer & Saucer - Flying Crane
Lovely 3-piece personal loose-leaf tea set.
• How it works: Place loose tea in the perforated infuser, set infuser inside cup, pour hot water, steep, then lift infuser out and rest it on the little saucer - the saucer also fits on top of the cup as a lid to keep tea warm. Celadon blue glaze inside the cup.
• Design: Minimalist ink-wash style crane in flight with stylized clouds - symbol of longevity and good fortune in Japan. White glossy porcelain outside, pale celadon inside.
• Marks: Blue underglaze 2-character maker's mark with faded red seal stamp on the foot of the strainer (see photo 5).
• Condition: No chips, cracks, or repairs. Light crazing and typical light brown kiln staining on foot ring. Clean and ready to use. The glaze has a tiny pinhole or two from firing - original to piece.
Perfect for Gong Fu style, Sencha, or any loose leaf. Nice for tea ceremony, meditation, or display.
From non-smoking home. Will be very carefully double-boxed - porcelain infuser is fragile.
