Hi Everyone! I am Amy, one of the Moderators here at Secondhandsquad.net. Part of that role is to assist with any questions you may have, so fire away! I am from Columbus, Ohio and love thrifting and perusing our local antique stores! I enjoy pieces that remind me of my grandparents and love the hunt of finding unique treasures to bring into my home. While I love the reselling business, I find my joy in giving new life to old pieces and sharing that with others.
Fenton Art Glass was an American glass manufacturer founded in 1905 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, by the Fenton brothers. They became renowned for their colorful, decorative glassware, particularly their carnival glass, opalescent glass, and hobnail patterns. The company's designs often featured intricate molds and vibrant colors, making their pieces highly sought after by collectors. This particular item, a "top hat" toothpick holder, is a classic example of Fenton's popular hobnail pattern. The opalescent effect, where the glass appears milky white or iridescent, is a signature characteristic of many Fenton pieces from the mid-20th century. These small decorative items were produced in various colors and were popular as souvenirs and collectibles.
