Brass Deity Wind Chime Bell - Temple Ghanta - India

Vintage Brass Temple Wind Bell - Embossed Deity - Hanging Wind Chime - India

Beautiful vintage solid brass hanging wind bell / temple bell (ghanta). More of a wind chime than a hand bell — has a hanging loop on top, internal clapper/wire, and a large leaf-shaped wind sail / wind catcher at the bottom that makes it ring in the breeze.

Embossed on front with raised deity in prayer pose (Anjali mudra) — style seen on Indian Puja bells. The same type as Garuda / Hanuman temple bells.

Hang in garden, porch, patio, meditation space, yoga room, or altar. Lovely soft chime tone.

• Material: Solid brass bell + copper/brass wind sail

• Origin: India - 1970s vintage temple / puja style

• Type: Hanging wind chime bell / wind bell / ghanta / temple bell

• Design: Dome bell with top hanging loop, bottom wire with leaf-shaped wind sail, internal clapper wire

• Deity: Raised embossed praying figure with halo - Hindu / Buddhist style

• Dimensions: Bell ∼2.5" tall, total with leaf ∼5.5"-6"

• Sound: Soft, clear wind chime ring

Condition:

Good vintage condition with natural aged patina. Brass has darkened with age, green verdigris spots near top loop (see photos), light pitting and wear from casting - typical for Indian brass bells of this age. Embossing is worn but still very visible. Wind sail leaf has natural copper patina. The clapper is attached through a hole at the top of the bell with a heavy duty wire. Clapper wire is intact. Left unpolished.

How it works: Hang by top loop, wind blows leaf sail, leaf pulls internal clapper to ring bell.
