19th-century French Victorian shadow box artwork features a hand-colored fashion plate from the legendary Parisian journal La Mode Illustrée, meticulously embellished with three-dimensional fabric dress overlays. Dating from circa 1870–1885, the scene showcases the elaborate, high-bustle silhouettes of the era brought to life through miniature textile craftsmanship, complete with layered velvet, silk, and satin textiles over the figures. The underlying print is heavily documented and holds significant historical provenance, bearing the signature of the celebrated French watercolorist and fashion illustrator Héloïse Leloir (née Colin), alongside the signature of master engraver Houard, who intricately etched the design into the original printing plate. The lower margin retains its authentic editorial markings, reading "LA MODE ILLUSTRÉE, Bureaux du Journal 56, Rue Jacob Paris" and the printer's credit "Leroy, imp. Paris," tracking the piece directly back to the historic Saint-Germain-des-Prés publishing house. Housed in a beautifully preserved, ornate silver and gold leaf wooden frame under protective glass
