Hi Everyone! I am Amy, one of the Moderators here at Secondhandsquad.net. Part of that role is to assist with any questions you may have, so fire away! I am from Columbus, Ohio and love thrifting and perusing our local antique stores! I enjoy pieces that remind me of my grandparents and love the hunt of finding unique treasures to bring into my home. While I love the reselling business, I find my joy in giving new life to old pieces and sharing that with others.
Carnival glass, also known as iridescent glass, is a type of glass that has been treated with metallic salts to create an iridescent surface. It was most popular in the early 20th century, with production peaking between 1907 and 1925, though it continued to be made into the mid-20th century and beyond by various companies. The distinctive shimmering effect is achieved by spraying a solution of metallic salts onto the hot glass, which is then fired in a kiln, causing the salts to vaporize and adhere to the glass surface. This technique gives the glass its characteristic rainbow-like luster. Deviled egg plates are serving dishes designed with individual depressions to hold deviled eggs securely. They became particularly popular in the mid-20th century as entertaining at home increased. Combining the functionality of a serving platter with the decorative appeal of carnival glass, these plates were a common sight at parties and gatherings, showcasing both the host's culinary creations and their taste in tableware.
