Hi Everyone! I am from Ohio and love thrifting and perusing our local antique stores! I enjoy pieces that remind me of my grandparents and love the hunt of finding unique treasures to bring into my home.
Pressed glass, a technique developed in the early 19th century, allowed for the mass production of decorative glassware with intricate patterns. This method involves pouring molten glass into a mold and then pressing it with a plunger to create the desired shape and design. Amber glass, a popular color during the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods, and continuing into the mid-20th century, was often used for decorative items like bowls, vases, and tableware. This particular dish, with its feather motif and ruffled edge, is characteristic of mid-century American glass production, often referred to as "Depression glass" or "Mid-Century Modern" glass. These pieces were widely produced and collected for their affordability and decorative appeal, serving various household functions from serving dishes to decorative accents.
