MA-based collector with French roots and a love of early 20th-century décor. Inspired by New England antiques and a life among flowers and gathered objects, I share glassware, ceramics, and metal pieces with timeless character.
This is an antique silver-plated serving dish, often called a bride's basket, manufactured by Simpson, Hall, Miller & Co.. It features a round, fluted bowl with a floral wreath pattern stamped in the center. The raised rim has a scalloped edge decorated with molded flowers and leaves. A swinging basket handle is attached to the sides, featuring an ornamental finial grip at the top. The base is stamped with the maker's mark "Simpson H. M. & Co. U.S.A. Quadruple Plate" alongside the model number 1312. This piece was made in Wallingford, Connecticut, and dates to circa 1890s–1900s.
